What is User Acceptance Testing?

User Acceptance Testing is performed by the users, or under their authority to prove that the entire system performs as specified in the agreed User Requirement Specification or Use Case, and is fit for use in their environment and following their procedures.

User Acceptance Testing should normally be carried out on complete systems or packages or major logical components of these.

All systems, and systems subjected to major change or upgrade, must be User Acceptance tested.  For purchased Off-the-Shelf systems this may be the only stage of testing required internally. In addition, where existing systems are being changed, it is necessary to apply.
